I personally think At Action Park is the best Shellac record to start with. Lmao hauntology I love all the zoomers in hereīut whatever, I don’t mind living in the world where Mac Plus gets either lauded on its merits or just championed for a shallow but cool affect - because I remember when absolute trash Girl Talk “Night Ripper” was somehow considered something genius a decade beforeĮdit: damn I was originally under the wrong impression that Never Too Much was written by Ashford & Simpson but it’s all Mr. The parts are greater than the sum, just listen to the 12” version of Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much” (all those Japanese city pop songs were largely copying Ashford & Simpson anyway) I don’t feel like Mac Plus lasts so much when you start getting into the samples tho. If you had a shitty little fm radio on the bus instead of your phone or iPod touch or whatever, and tuned it to your regional R&B throwback station, there’s a good chance you’d catch Diana Ross Yet that feeing when conveyed is nonetheless where the “Art” of mac plus actually lives, huh? Mac plus is a fine enough mix and I was definitely into the vibe at the time but wow who were we kidding, Diana Ross is not esoteric even if it’s slowed down
